This cake is basic, but not in the BASIC way. It looks homemade and that is totally fine! As we say in our kitchenlab: rustic, classic and natural are just other words for homemade. Doesn’t it make you feel like home? (If you were priviliged enough to have had caretakers that made you cakes.) Anyway, now YOU can make this easy apple cake yourself!
All you need is:
- Apples (I actually only used one apple in this cake. Put the other one back where it came from and forget that it’s there. What else would you do with it? Eat it!? Don’t be crazy.)
- and cake batter. This one was (I think, it happened sorta on the go) 200 grams of flour, 150 grams of sugar, 150 grams of butter, 150 grams of eggs (that was 2 eggs) and 100 grams of vanilla yogurt. (The yogurt substituted both butter and eggs. Otherwise it would have been 200 of everything but the sugar.) Also add a pinch of salt and some cinnamon.
Put it in the oven (160 degrees celsius & 60 minutes) and you will be rewarded with a golden party for your mouth. Take it out of the oven when it’s golden and the skewer comes out dry (you know this skewer trick, we talk about it a lot).Let it cool down for a bit before taking it out of the tin to let it cool down completely. Or until you can’t not touch it anymore. Then you can just get yourself a slice.
